With our online design studio, you can upload a wide assortment of different image file types to use as artwork for your t-shirts.

Image Size & Resolution
Be aware that images cannot be printed larger than they come to us. Best results are obtained from images that are high-resolution (150 dpi or greater) and larger than the area you request them to be printed into. Images taken from web sites are not high-resolution (generally 72 dpi) and cannot be reproduced well on a T-shirt.

Important Information
Please don't create your art in a word processing program. Such a design usually winds up having to be recreated from scratch in the correct program. A program like Microsoft Word comes with a good selection of clip art, and allows you to create graphics, shapes and text effects in many colors, but it is difficult (and often times impossible) to print color separations from word processing programs. Also please don't change the format of your design just to make it easier to email.

No, we never charge minimums. At CustomTshirts.com, we don't believe you should have to buy more t-shirts than you need in order to get what you want. This is why we offer all our products to be customized as a single piece with no minimums. If you do need t-shirts for a large group, we do offer bulk discounts that increase with the number of t-shirts you order.

We do ship to International and military (APO, etc.) addresses via United States Postal Service (USPS). For non-military, international addresses, you will be emailed if there are any additional shipping charges. Shipping fees do not reflect any customs or duty fees which are the buyer's responsibility. We do not ship to International PO Boxes or UPS 2-Day Air to Canada. Free shipping promotions NOT applicable on international orders.

If you are stuck and cannot design your product the way you would like, don't worry! We are here to help.

For simple design instructions such as removing the background color from an uploaded image or changing the thread colors on a piece of embroidered clipart, simply add design instructions when you place your order.

When your design is otherwise completed, and you're ready to order, click on the Step 5 "ADD QTY / SIZES" button.
Once your sizes / quantities are entered, and you've clicked "PROOF & BUY" to review your designs, use the link:

In the top right corner of your screen, you will see a link that says Track Your Order.
Click this link and insert your order number. This will give you the most up-to-date information about your order.

[+]Where can I find size information for my products?

There are two different areas where you can find size information about your products

  • If you are on the product page: You will see sizing information in the bottom right corner.
  • If you are in the design studio: Click on the "Step 5 - Add Qty / Sizes" button. This will open the Quantity entry window. On the right hand side, you will see Sizes and Garment Measurements panels which will outline the product's available sizes, measurements, and any special considerations related to how the garment will fit.

[+]What does preview unavailable mean?

When you see a "Preview Unavailable" image after uploading an image, it simply means that the image was either too large or not a valid image type to be able to give a live preview in the design studio. This does not mean that the image will not work. We always encourage you to use high resolution or vector artwork when designing.

If you see a "Preview Unavailable" message, simply move the placeholder into the appropriate place on your garment. Once you place your order, our graphics production department will update your digital proof for you which will be emailed for approval within 1-2 business days.

[+]How can I get a quantity discount using the same design on different colors and styles?

We always give our customers the best possible quantity discount price we offer online, however if you need multiple styles and colors for your order, there is no easy way to offer a combined quantity discount.

If you have one design, but want multiple styles / colors of the same or similar garments, we'll always try to give you the best quantity price for your total order. CustomTshirts reserves the right to alter the size and/or layout of lettering, logo, or design so that it looks best and fits imprint size restrictions. We are not responsible for incorrect sizes, names, or text so please make sure your order is correct and without errors.

[+]How do I add back / sleeve / shoulder / leg designs to my product?

Most of our products offer design options on the backs, down-the-sleeve, on the shoulders, and/or down-the-leg. To see if the product you are designing has one of these options available, simply look at the Add Design Locations panel, in the upper left corner of the online design studio. Each small thumbnail represents an available decoration location. To begin designing on one of these locations, just click on the thumbnail.

[+]How do I pick a new product in the online design studio?

To pick a new product, click on the Step 1: Product button.
When Step 1 expands, click the Choose New Product button to open the product selection window. Use the categories to navigate to the desired product and click the Choose New Product button once you have decided.

[+]Where can I find size information for my products?

Most Shirts can be printed on both the the front and the back. To print a design on the back of your t-shirts, choose the second icon under the Add Design Locations tab on the top of the left hand sidebar. An additional price will be added for second sided prints in our pricing calculator located in the top right-hand corner of the online design studio.

Embroidery


[+]What are my Embroidery Design options?

Browse through our huge collection of products and find the item you want to have embroidered. Click the Start Designing button to launch our Online Embroidery Designer. Our software will dynamically create a visual representation of the embroidery design for you to review and proof. Choose from our free embroidery clipart library, upload your logo or graphic, or choose a text-only layout.

The first step is to choose the design location that you would like to personalize. Many of our products offer up to 5 different design locations. Next, choose your product color by clicking on Step 1 "Product." Choose your product color from the color dropdown button.

The second step is to choose your embroidery layout. Click on Step 2 "Design Options" to view all of our embroidery layouts. Choose from clipart and text layouts, text only layouts or upload your own logo.

Choose your layout style, Text or Clipart, by clicking the appropriate tab on the left. Uploaded logos use "Clipart" style layouts. Use Our Embroidery Clipart Choose your embroidery layout (the paw print represents where your logo/clipart will be). Once you select a layout, you will be instructed to browse our free clipart library or to upload your own logo. Colors and text can be personalized by clicking on the individual elements of the design on your garment.

Upload Your Logo or Graphic Designs and logos need to be "stitch-ready," for embroidery machines. Consequently, custom logos must be converted into a rich, three-dimensional, embroidery format.

Please Note: We cannot digitize photos or images with very fine lines. Uploads for embroidery digitizing should be simple graphics with large definable areas and lines. Some detail may be lost when your image is converted into threads. You can have your own custom logo converted into this embroidery format absolutely FREE when you purchase just (6) of any one style of our garments. Order less than (6) items and there is a one-time $50 Set-up fee.

Choose your embroidery layout (the paw print represents where your logo/clipart will be). Once you select a layout, you will be instructed to browse our free clipart library or to upload your own logo. In the pop-up window, click the Browse button to find the image you would like to upload from your hard drive. Some file formats may not be able to offer a live preview, however any valid image format is acceptable for upload. Click on the Submit button to view your image on your product.

If you wish to remove the background color or empty white space from your upload click "Make the background color transparent" and your image will upload without the background.

Text Only Layout After selecting a text only layout simply click on the text to select it. The Step 3 "Edit Design" panel will automatically open up, and allow you to edit your text and text color.

[+]What is the standard embroidery size?

For typical shirt sizes we use a 3.5" X 3.5" embroidery area. For shirts we embroider on the left chest unless otherwise indicated. For our hats we typically offer embroidery on the front with a maximum size of 4.2" w x 2.1". For visors the maximum size is 4.2" w x 1.1". The smallest letters that can be embroidered are 0.25" high.

[+]How do I change the thread colors used in my clipart or logo?

When designing an embroidered garment, if you use one of our clipart designs or upload your own logo, you will not be able to adjust the thread colors displayed on your screen. If you would like us to stitch your design in different colors than the ones you see, simply add a special note to your order.

[+]How is embroidery priced?

Prices on our web site includes a front, one location embroidery. Additional locations will add to price. Depending on the product you select, you will be given several placement options which may include left / right chest, sleeves, and back placements. Maximum embroidery size for shirts is approximately 4" w x 4 h. The smallest letters can be embroidered is .25" high.

As you add items/placements our calculator will update your order sub-total. The more you buy, the more you save. We offer generous quantity discounts on not only the per piece garment charge, but also the cost of additional embroidery placements. The single piece additional placement charge is $10.75 per garment.

When you finish selecting your embroidery options, press the "Buy Now" button and your options will be stored in our shopping cart.

Small Format Embroidery is covered up to 10,000 stitches. If artwork exceeds that limit, we will contact you about additional charges.

[+]Can I mix Print and Embroidery on my product?

Some embroidered products offer high-quality back printing decoration options. Please check carefully as you create your design to see if the decoration on your garment will be imprinted or embroidered.

Due to dye lot variances, some shading differences may occur on occasion beyond our control.
